THE BABY UNIT... |
| |
The baby unit houses 45-50 infants ages 0-3 years old. ICCO sponsors the salaries for the daily care- givers, formula, cereal, diaper liners, and general supplies.
| The introduction of high quality formula has significantly improved the overall health and development of the babies. |
ICCO also funds medical examinations and corrective surgeries.
| From 1998-2001 ICCO has sponsored an avarage of 13 surgeries per year. These include repairs for hernias, cleft palates, spina bifidas, and shunt placements. The 2005 budget is now up to $14,634 for children's surgeries. Some of these are very complicated and expensive, donations are always needed toward these costs. Volunteers regularly visit the baby building to help provide the interaction and stimulation needed for proper development. |
| ICCO also funds special caregiver training as well a full time expat therapist and a translator to facilitate the early intervention needs of these infants. Expansion of the therapy, nutrition and medical programs will continue to improve the health and development of these infants. |
